Hello! I recently posted an update proposal for Speed UHC, however over the past couple of weeks whilst working on that project I had also come up with a couple of ideas I’d love to see implemented into Cops and Crims! Cops and Crims is an older game on the Hypixel Network, however in my opinion, still a great game to play. Though I am not an excellent CvC player, I enjoy the game, so I thought I would share some of my thoughts on what could be added in a potential Cops and Crims update in the future!

What’s in this update proposal?

  • General Changes
    • New Quests, New Practice Mode, Prestiges, and more!
  • Gameplay Changes
    • New Balances, and QoL!
  • New Achievements

General Changes
New Quests:

Since Gun Game was added, no quest has been added to encourage more players to play the game. The questing community on Hypixel is not small, and if GG had a quest for players to complete, it might queue more frequently. A possible GG-specific quest could be:

  • Play 3 games of Gun Game

I feel that this could potentially encourage more players to play GG on a daily basis, which could help the popularity of the game mode.

GG should also be included in the CvC weekly quest for a similar reason; encouraging players to play the game. There are two possible routes for this idea: a Gun Game-specific weekly quest or the addition of Gun Game to the existing weekly quest. Here is a possibility of what either could look like:

  • Gun Game Specific
    • Roulette: Play 15 games of Gun Game
  • Altered Current Quest:
    • Talented: Kill 100 players in Defusal, Get 1,500 points in Deathmatch, Play 10 games of Gun Game

I feel that either one of these quests would encourage players to play GG more frequently.

New! Practice Mode:
Ever want to practice your aim before joining a game? Well, now you can! Similar to the NPC found in the Bedwars lobby, I suggest adding a Practice NPC to the CvC lobby.

This NPC would replace the Shooting Range found in the CvC main lobby. This would benefit both players wanting to practice and those tired of hearing game sounds in the lobby. By adding a Practice NPC, we would also be able to add more diverse modes of practicing such as:

  • Target Practice
    • The current system in place now - un-moving targets
  • Moving Targets
    • Practice with moving targets (Functions like ‘Shooting Range’ in Party Games)
  • Timed Practice
    • Function similarly to the current system however there is a time limit

This is a draft of what a potential timed shooting range could look like. The golden pressure plates represent where NPCs could spawn at random for the played to aim at.

Overall, by adding a Practice NPC, instead of a lobby feature, Hypixel could incorporate a wider variety for practice, allowing players to be more warmed up before playing the game if desired!

New! Game Cosmetics:

Cops and Crims is a game that I feel could be improved by adding a couple of cosmetics into the game. Now, I know this is a slippery slope as the game shouldn’t be overcrowded with distracting cosmetics, so I hope my suggestions will be subtle enough to be potentially incorporated!

  • New Announcer Voices

Though I know that the Announcer in the CvC pack is classic, I feel that adding new announcer voices could be a unique twist for CvC. Though I’m not entirely sure how this could be implemented, if possible, I feel this would be a cool addition that would allow more customizability to the game!


  • Glyphs

Similar to the addition to Glyphs in Wool Wars, these would display over the bomb site when either side won a round. A neat cosmetic feature that could give the game a little more customizability. The Glyph would display for whichever player on the winning team was the MVP of the round.

These cosmetics could be unlocked with coins, or through the new Weapon Prestige System, described below!

New! Weapon Prestige System:
When creating this update proposal I felt that there was so much more that could be done with weapons. Obtaining weapon skills from kills/achievements was a nice touch, but it left me wondering “What Next?” whenever I obtained a skin. Aside from weapon skins, CvC was lacking in late-game progression for players who have played the game for long periods of time and maxed out the shop. My proposed solution to this is a new prestige system for weapons!

Each weapon would have its own prestige system so players could work for one or multiple prestige items at a time. The system would function similarly to the current skin system, but with a higher set of requirements for each prestige - five in total.

Each prestige would grant players rewards unique to the prestige of their weapon. In order to prestige a weapon, the player must have all upgrades unlocked and maxed. Below is an example of potential prestige rewards:

    • Prestige Reward 1: Prestige Callout/Voiceline
    • Prestige Reward 2: Bolded Prefix in Main CvC Lobby
    • Prestige Reward 3: Prestige Spray
    • Prestige Reward 4: Prestige Star ☆ on Weapon Name
    • Prestige Reward 5: Prestige Weapon Announcer + Glyph

This is how Prestige Progression would look for a specific weapon:

  • Knife Prestige 1: Prestige Knife Callout/Voiceline
    • Requirements: 750 Knife Kills
  • Knife Prestige 2: Bolded Knife Prefix in Main CvC Lobby
    • Requirements: 1,500 Knife Kills
  • Knife Prestige 3: Prestige Knife Spray
    • Requirements: 2,500 Knife Kills
  • Knife Prestige 4: ☆ on Knife Name
    • Requirements: 5,000 Knife Kills
  • Knife Prestige 5: Prestige Weapon Announcer + Glyph
    • Requirements: 7,500 Knife Kills

*I should note that ideally, prestige progression would give unique weapon skins, but I know there’s an issue in doing so.

General QoL Changes:
- Update Lobby Information Board

In the CvC lobby, the Information Board still uses signs. To make it look a little more up-to-date, I suggest adding a new, game-specific designed info board like those in Bedwars, UHC, Wool Wars, Sky Wars, Murder Mystery, etc.

I feel that this could help make CvC feel like a more incorporated game on Hypixel. Having an updated information board would help unify games across Hypixel and just provide a more consistent visual experience across the network.

- Add 'Score' to CvC in /stats

Currently, it is very difficult to check your CvC score on Hypixel. You must go to ‘Settings’, then ‘Personal Lobby Prefix’, then to ‘Prefix Color’ where you can see your score. This is far too many steps. Players’ scores should be shown to players in their /stats under CvC.

- Rework Lobby Sidebar to include ‘Score’

The sidebar in the Main CvC Lobby should include the player’s score. It is currently difficult to find your current score on the Hypixel network, the only option being to go through ‘Shop’ to ‘Settings’ to ‘Personal Lobby Prefix’ and then to ‘Prefix Color’. These are far too many steps for a player to follow to see their current score. That is why adding it to the sidebar would be a much quicker and more convenient way for players to see their scores

- Include Knife Kills under the Statistics NPC

Currently, under the Statistics NPC, it does not display Knife kills. Including Knife kills would just be a nice addition for players wondering how many eliminations they’ve achieved using their knife. It’s a small QoL detail, but one that could be a nice addition.

- Allow MVP++ to create CvC Private Games

Allowing players with the MVP++ rank to create Private CvC Games would make for a fun addition to the rank. CvC is a great game to play with friends, and if players wanted to mess around, try new routes, or even just practice trick shots, then this could be a beneficial feature.

- Allow players to disable the ‘Announcer’ in ‘Settings’ in the lobby

This allows players to turn off the Announcer whilst in the lobby. It would be a simple QoL feature, which may help players who find the announcer to be annoying - despite the announcer offering helpful information.

*Applicable in all modes.

- Add the Weapon Icon to the practice mode/shooting range weapon booklet

Adding the Weapon Icon to the practice mode/shooting range weapon booklet, it would let players more quickly identify which weapons are which. Though this is a small QoL detail, I feel it could be beneficial in helping players match weapons and symbols.

Gameplay Changes
Gun Game Rebalancing:

Unfortunately, Gun Game can be a very difficult game for newer players since not all weapon upgrades are the same for each player. This is fine in other CvC modes, but in Gun Game, where speed and damage are necessary, it becomes too much of a balancing issue. Therefore, I recommend maxing out all weapon upgrades for players in Gun Game.

This would allow every player to have an equal opportunity to advance. Places with maxed-out weapon upgrades have a major advantage over those that do not. By giving all players max weapon upgrades in GG, it balances the game allowing players to win on skill rather than shop progression.

Gameplay QoL Changes:
- Weapon Menu Clarification

  • Include technical names for weapons in the in-shop description of the weapon
    • E.g. Bullpup vs P90

This would allow newer players to more easily understand the technical names of weapons. These names are used for achievements (e.g Golden Deagle: Get 10 headshots with the Magnum in one game of Defusal), and can be confusing for newer players attempting to go for achievements. Though playing the game will eventually clear up names for players, I feel that having it clarified in the shop could be useful anyways.

*Applicable in Defusal and TDM

- Include the Weapon’s original owner’s name in the description if the weapon is dropped

This would allow players to know who owned a weapon initially. It’s not particularly useful, but it would be a neat QoL feature.


Achievements:
No proper update proposal would be complete without adding new achievements!

In this update proposal, there are 5 new achievements with a total of

  • Practice Makes Perfect - 5 Achievement Points
    • Use the Practice NPC

  • Prestigious! - 15 Achievement Points
    • Unlock a Weapon Prestige Tier

  • Very Prestigious! - 25 Achievement Points
    • Unlock a Tier V Weapon Prestige

Tiered Achievements:

  • Impressive - 5/10/15/20/25 Achievement Points
    • Reach 1,000/2,500/5,000/10,00/15,000 Score

  • Knifed - 5/10/15/20/25
    • Get 5/25/50/100/250 Knife kills
