What is Tournament of Souls in League of Legends

Tournament Soul, a part of the Soul Fighter event is a fighting-game style metagame that players can indulge in as they rise to the top. According to the lore, the Soul Fighter exists in the world where champions wielding soul powers fight against each other in a series of duels to determine the victor.

The story centers on Samira and her awakened soul on her journey in the Tournament of Soul. Sacrificing her other eye, the Desert Rose was able to awaken her soul power in the form of two spirit guns. When playing Tournament Soul, the players will take the role of Samira as she attempts to defeat her foes one by one. She will fight against a total of ten soul fighters. Among them is a challenger that conceals a mysterious identity that only unravels upon reaching the final stage.

How to play the Tournament of Souls in League of Legends

Tournament of Souls can be accessed in League of Legends’ client. Simply head to the home tab and click on the Tournament of Souls. By doing this, the page where Samira is facing the arena will open. This displays the remaining time till the event's conclusion, your reputation points, and the stage you are now on.

To begin the game, select Launch.

Story and Expert Mode

The Tournament of Souls features two distinct modes: Story and Expert. Initially, players have access only to the Story mode, where they can delve into a series of comics, narrating Samira's intriguing interactions with her opponents. Here, you have the option to read through the storyline or opt to skip it altogether, diving straight into the adrenaline-pumping action.

Finishing the story mode may be a piece of cake for some of you, but fret not as there’s an expert mode where you can jump right in for a more intense battle. After finishing the story mode or successfully eliminating all of your foes, you can immediately hop into the next mode that will truly put your skills to the test.

Mechanics

Winning the match only hinges on one objective and that is to eliminate your opponent before the clock runs out. Should your health reduce to zero before your foe's or if you fail to kill them within the allotted 1 minute and 30 seconds, defeat awaits. This rule holds true for all stages in both the story and expert modes, except for the final stage of each mode.

But how do you unlock the next stages and advance? Just like in a real arena or tournament, you must first gather enough reputation to be able to fight against another fighter. But this also brings us to another question? How does one gain reputation in the Tournament of Souls?

What is Reputation in LoL Tournament of Souls and how to increase it?

In the Tournament of Souls, reputation holds paramount importance as it serves as the key to advancing to the next stage.

In order to increase your reputation, the game will require you to play other matchmade games like the Arena, Normal or Ranked games, Coop vs AI and complete each mission. Completing each mission rewards 5 reputation, while the Infinite Mission gives 1.

Each champion or stages will require varying reputation points. The higher the stage, the higher points you’ll need to gain.

All LoL Tournament of Souls Samira Abilities

Upon stepping into the arena, you'll be equipped with three damaging abilities: Q, W, and E. Similar to the Samira we know, her ultimate becomes available once you obtain six stacks of Style from E to S. The difference is that you gain stack only when switching weapons. Initially, you will receive one set of abilities. Defeating other competitors though, grants new abilities with unique animations and effects. Take note though, that switching from one ability to another is necessary especially when countering another champion.

Q | Gun

Quickshot - Fire a fast shot for 160 damage. When used to change weapons, fires twice.

Piercing Precision - 3 piercing shots for a total of 210 damage that break shields and increase the duration of airborne.

Deadshot - Puncturing shot that deals 70 damage and causes bleeding for 160 damage over 4s. If already bleeding, the initial shot deals 4x damage.

W | Sword

Sky Scraper - Upward slash for 230 damage that sends the enemy airborne.

Back Atcha - Spin twice for 60 damage, blocking all damage and status effects while reflecting a max of 500 damage back to an opponent for 1s. If Samira blocks 300 damage or greater, gain one additional style point.

Blade Drain - Slice twice for 175 damage, healing 250 total. If the enemy is wounded, heal double.

E | Sword

Severe Strike - Stab forward for 265 damage inflicting wounded for 4s. If the enemy is bleeding, refresh the bleed duration.

Twilight Rush - Dash forward for 100 damage, breaking shields, and place a sticky bomb that explodes for 130, damaging all enemies after 2s. Following with a gun ability detonates early, causing the grenade to critically strike.

Style on ’Em - Slash rapidly, dealing 230 damage, and gain one additional style point. If enemy is airborne, deal 50% bonus damage.

R | Neutral

Chaotic Daybreak - Increase crit chance from 25% to 75% for 10s, and unleash a torrent of shots for 700 damage.

Immortal Inferno - Unleash a torrent of shots for 550 damage, healing a total of 500.

Some of these abilities can only be unlocked after eliminating another champion.
